DOJ Seeks Orders to Force Apple to Unlock 12 More iPhones as FBI Claims It's Not Trying to Set Precedent


The U.S. Justice Department is pursuing court orders to force Apple to assist investigators in extracting data from another 12 iPhones, reports the WSJ. The news comes as the FBI claims its demand that Apple hack the San Bernardino shooter's iPhone will not set a precedence.


PlayStation VR press event set for next month, invites sent out



Sony has sent out press invites for a PlayStation VR event which will be held next month - March 15 to be precise. The invitation says the event will begin with a presentation on the headset followed by hands-on demo of the device. 

Xiaomi announces Mi 4s in China


 Xiaomi also announced the new Mi 4s before the Mi 5 launch in Beijing, China. Xiaomi Mi 4s The Mi 4s seems somewhat like the successor to last year's Mi 4i, with its slim design and impressive but not too impressive spec sheet. It looks like it will slot somewhere between the existing Mi 4 and the upcoming Mi 5.

Xiaomi Mi 5 prices start at $300, will be available on March 1



Xiaomi revealed its flagship Mi 5 smartphone and amazed everyone at the MWC There are three versions of the phone, and will start at just $306 (CNY 2000). For that price, you get Snapdragon 820 chipset, 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. If you want 64GB of internal storage, the price goes up to $352 (CNY 2300). Finally, the Xiaomi Mi 5 Pro with ceramic back will have 4GB of RAM and 128GB of storage for the price of $413 (CNY 2700). Pre-orders for the Xiaomi Mi 5 are currently open in China and the release date for the device is March 1. 


Microsoft releases Hub Keyboard for Android


 The Microsoft Hub Keyboard looks like a simple keyboard at first but it has a few tricks up its sleeve. The keyboard has four main features. The clipboard feature shows you text you had previously copied so you can paste it with a couple of taps. The documents feature lets you login to your Office 365 account and paste the URL of the files by typing their names. The contacts feature lets you type the name of the contact and paste their details by tapping on the suggestions above. Lastly, there is a built-in translator, which can translate the text you're typing to any other language.

Lightroom on Android now with RAW support


The latest update to Lightroom on Android now has RAW support for mobile photography enthusiasts to enjoy. The version also adds a few other features like split toning and haze removal that have been part of the iOS build since last year. 

WhatsApp's Android beta program goes live on Google Play


WhatsApp has finally launched its Android beta program on Google's Play Store, making it easier for early adopters to test latest pre-release builds of the mobile messaging service. 


Skype to pull the plug on its Qik video messaging service next month


Microsoft-owned Skype has announced that its Qik video messaging service - which was launched back in 2014 - will be shut down in March.
